Set up Clevly in 5 minutes

Install the desktop app, learn three hotkeys, and you’re ready for your next interview.

Step 1

Sign in to the web dashboard

If you're reading this, you've already done it. Your dashboard is at /dashboard — bookmark it.

  • • Track your usage and recent sessions
  • • Manage your subscription and billing

Step 2

Download the desktop app

The magic happens in the desktop overlay. The web dashboard is for management; the actual real-time AI coaching runs in the desktop app.

Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux:

  • • Windows 10/11 — fully supported, screen-share invisibility works
  • • macOS 11+ — fully supported (Apple Silicon & Intel)
  • • Linux x86_64 — AppImage; screen-share invisibility not available on Linux

Step 3

Sign in to the desktop app

The desktop app uses the same account as the web. Two ways in:

A. Email + password

If you signed up with email/password on this site, use the same credentials in the desktop app.

B. One-time login code (for Google / Facebook accounts)

  1. On the web dashboard, find the “Connect desktop app” card.
  2. Click Get code. A 6-character code appears, valid for 5 minutes.
  3. In the desktop app, switch to the “Login with Code” tab.
  4. Paste the code → press Enter. You’re in.

Memorize 3 hotkeys

All your interactions during an interview are keyboard-driven so nothing shows on screen share.

Voice transcription
Ctrl + Shift + M

Toggles mic on/off. Captures everything the interviewer says, transcribed live.

Screen capture
Ctrl + Shift + Space

Snapshot the current screen. Sent to AI for a structured answer — perfect for coding problems & system design diagrams.

Show / hide overlay
Ctrl + Shift + H

Toggle the Clevly window. The OS-level overlay is hidden from screen share either way; this is for your own focus.

Pro tip

On Mac, replace Ctrl with ⌘. You can remap any hotkey in Settings → Hotkeys inside the desktop app.

Step 5

Practice before you go live

The single biggest lever to ace a real interview is to be bored by the questions before you get there.

  • • Practice mode — pick a track (behavioral / system design / coding / product), answer out loud, get AI feedback on structure and delivery
  • • Question bank — frameworks and sample answers for the most-asked questions at FAANG and top startups
  • • Recommended cadence — 5 practice sessions a day for two weeks before a real loop

Step 6

During the real interview

The overlay is invisible to screen share. Here's the loop that works:

  1. Join the call. Open Clevly. Toggle the mic ON with Ctrl+Shift+M.
  2. Listen to the question. The transcript appears in the Clevly overlay in near-real-time.
  3. For coding / system design — hit Ctrl+Shift+Space to capture the problem.
  4. Read the AI’s structured answer. Don’t read it verbatim — use it as scaffolding, then explain in your own words.
  5. Re-engage with the interviewer. Your eyes stay on the conversation, not the overlay.
